POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, who resigned from his post two days ago, departed from the Chief Minister’s House for his hometown Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday.
According to Gandapur’s spokesperson Faraz Mughal, the former chief minister shook hands with the staff before leaving and expressed his gratitude for their cooperation and services during his tenure.
Ali Amin Gandapur had tendered his resignation two days earlier in compliance with the directives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, who has since nominated Sohail Afridi as the new chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
However, Gandapur’s resignation has not yet been formally accepted. Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi clarified that the resignation had not yet reached his Principal Secretary’s office. He stated that a decision would be made once the document is officially received and reviewed.
The resignation marks a significant political development within the PTI-led provincial government, signaling possible strategic adjustments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s political leadership amid ongoing national tensions.
