POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, on Friday strongly condemned what he described as infiltration and attacks from across the Afghan border, terming the assaults on Pakistani posts under the cover of darkness as “shameful and cowardly.”
In an official statement, Ayaz Sadiq paid tribute to Pakistan’s security forces for their prompt and effective response to the alleged aggression, reiterating the country’s resolve to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty and regional integrity.
He alleged that Afghanistan had become a proxy of India and was destabilising regional peace by allowing its soil to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The speaker maintained that Pakistan had consistently shown patience and sought dialogue to resolve issues, but cautioned that such restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.
“Pakistan’s armed forces are fully capable of giving a befitting reply to any kind of aggression,” he stated.
The remarks come as Pakistan continues Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq in response to what officials have described as unprovoked actions by the Afghan Taliban regime along the Pak-Afghan border. According to official figures cited, 133 Afghan Taliban operatives were killed, more than 200 injured, and 27 Afghan checkpoints destroyed during the operation.
The National Assembly speaker reaffirmed national unity in the face of external threats and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to defend its borders against any aggression.
