Ayaz Sadiq Vows No Criticism of Army, Judiciary Will Be Allowed in Parliament

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday said he would not allow anyone to speak against the Pakistan Army or the judiciary on the floor of Parliament, calling it his constitutional and national responsibility.

Talking to the media in Lahore, Ayaz Sadiq advised opposition parties to return to Parliament and focus on public service. He said peaceful protest was everyone’s democratic right, but warned that any attempt to malign state institutions would not be tolerated.

“If the opposition comes to Parliament and speaks within rules, they will be given the floor. However, I will not allow anyone to speak against the Pakistan Army and the judiciary,” the Speaker said. “It is my duty to ensure that no one speaks against Pakistan.”

He said that mafias existed in every country of the world but added that truth and justice ultimately blocked their way. “Which country in the world is not friendly with Pakistan today?” he asked, asserting that Pakistan’s diplomatic standing had improved significantly.

Ayaz Sadiq further said that he regularly consulted the prime minister and had never been stopped from performing his duties independently. He praised the current foreign policy, calling it the best Pakistan had ever had.

“The only issue is with a neighbouring country that plays with the lives of our children,” he said, without naming any state.

The Speaker’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions and renewed debates over the role of state institutions in parliamentary discourse.
