Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti: No One Allowed to Take Up Arms, Kill Innocents

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Wednesday addressed the ongoing issue of terrorism in the province, emphasizing that no individual or group has the right to take up arms and kill innocent people.

Speaking to the Balochistan Assembly, roughly 10 days after the January 31 attacks that paralyzed parts of the province, Bugti highlighted the success of Operation Radd-ul-Fitna-1, which led to the deaths of 216 terrorists.

The CM criticized what he called “confusion” around the issue of terrorism in Pakistan, linking it to the use of propaganda aimed at creating a divide between the state and Baloch youth. He argued that terrorism in the province was being wrongly associated with lack of development, stating:

“The monopoly of the right of violence is only with the state; be it whichever state in the world. No one is allowed to take up arms and kill innocent people.”

Bugti said militants in Balochistan aim to break the country and create a separate nation-state based on Baloch identity, which they intend to exploit using three tools: violence, social maneuvering, and social media. He warned that such efforts push Baloch youth into a “futile war” that will result only in bloodshed.

The CM also stressed the importance of the National Action Plan (NAP), noting that while terrorism in the name of religion has been recognized as criminal, terrorism in the name of nationalism is often treated differently.

On dialogue, Bugti said he remains open to negotiations but only with parties willing to engage peacefully:

“I am ready to talk on behalf of the state of Pakistan. But I cannot talk to those who are killing our innocent children, teachers, doctors, policemen, and security forces.”

Bugti’s address reinforced the provincial government’s stance on law and order, emphasizing that terrorism and violence will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
