CM Gandapur Calls All-Party Conference to Form Unified Strategy Against Terrorism in KP

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has emphasized the urgent need for all political parties to set aside political differences and adopt a unified approach to address the growing threat of terrorism in the province, particularly in the merged tribal districts.

Chairing a high-level meeting focused on the law and order situation in areas such as North and South Waziristan, the chief minister underscored the importance of collective action. The meeting resulted in key decisions aimed at fostering cross-party collaboration and public engagement to root out terrorism.

Key Decisions from the Meeting:

·       Formation of a unified, agreed strategy involving all schools of thought and local communities.

·       Creation of a government delegation that will consult with the public and assess ground realities in affected regions.

·       Calling of an All-Party Conference (APC) to invite parliamentary leaders of all political parties to develop a common anti-terrorism strategy.

·       Emergency meeting of MPAs and MNAs from the merged districts to gather their input and ensure representation in policy-making.

CM Gandapur said that durable peace in the region can only be achieved through mutual consultation, consensus-driven decision-making, and public participation. He stressed that all stakeholders must come together to defend the province from threats that undermine its security and development.

He also announced that the delegation would visit affected areas to gather input directly from local populations, further intensifying the public consultation process.

Rising Security Concerns in Merged Districts

The decision comes amid increasing security concerns in the merged districts, where several incidents of terrorism have been reported in recent months. Analysts view this move as a proactive step toward building political consensus and public trust in the government’s counterterrorism strategy.

By involving all political parties, elected representatives, and local communities, the Gandapur-led government aims to ensure that the response to terrorism is both comprehensive and sustainable.
