CM Gandapur Warns of Assembly Dissolution Amid Budget Stand-Off

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday issued a strong warning that the provincial assembly could be dissolved at any time as tensions escalate over the delayed approval of the annual budget.

In a fiery statement, Gandapur accused the federal government of plotting to destabilize the PTI-led provincial administration. “An attempt is being made to overthrow the KP government through conspiracies,” he said, highlighting delays in procedural approvals and alleged interference.

The CM revealed that the governor has not yet approved the summary for calling a budget session, effectively stalling the formal presentation of the provincial budget. He further instructed government lawmakers not to participate in voting on cut motions, which would trigger the budget approval process.

“If the voting on cut motions begins, the budget passage will automatically start. I will not let this conspiracy succeed,” Gandapur warned.

He emphasized that the founder of PTI must be consulted and must give his approval before the provincial budget is passed. “We are not being allowed to meet the founder PTI. This is my political right. The KP budget will be approved only after his approval,” he stated, clearly linking fiscal decisions with party leadership.

Gandapur also pointed to a constitutional loophole, saying that if the provincial government fails to pass a budget, the federal government could impose financial emergency and seize control of the province.

The CM accused the central authorities of blocking legitimate political processes and vowed to launch a movement against the existing system, calling it unsustainable. “We will not let this system continue. It’s time to fight back,” he declared.

The unfolding standoff raises serious concerns over political stability in KP and may deepen the already strained relations between the PTI-led provincial government and the federal administration. It also hints at a growing internal crisis as budget deadlines approach and political consultation is being hindered.

All eyes will now be on the next move from the Governor House and federal government as the June 30 fiscal deadline looms large.
