CM KP Gandapur Condemns Kurram Attack, Vows Peace Restoration

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has strongly condemned the firing incident in the Bagan area of Lower Kurram, in which Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud and others were injured. He termed the attack a "deliberate and nefarious" attempt to derail ongoing peace efforts in the region.

The incident occurred when government vehicles came under attack, injuring DC Mehsud, whose condition is now reported to be stable. The assault has temporarily halted the departure of the first aid convoy scheduled to deliver essential supplies to Kurram.

In a statement, CM Gandapur expressed his best wishes for the recovery of DC Mehsud and others injured, calling the incident "regrettable and condemnable." He stressed that the government remains steadfast in its efforts to restore peace in Kurram despite such provocations.

"Sabotage of Peace Accord"
The chief minister said the firing was a malicious attempt to sabotage the recently signed Kurram Peace Accord, which aimed to end long-standing conflicts in the region. "This incident is the work of miscreants who do not want peace in Kurram, but their efforts will not succeed," he asserted.

Strict Action Promised
Gandapur assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in the attack. "The KP government and the people of Kurram will work together to thwart these nefarious designs. We urge residents to cooperate in identifying the miscreants so they can be brought to justice."

Commitment to Peace
The chief minister reiterated the provincial government’s determination to restore stability in Kurram. "The government, along with local elders, will continue its efforts until complete peace is achieved in the region," he said.

The recent attack comes just days after a peace agreement was brokered between warring factions in Kurram. The accord followed over three weeks of violence, which claimed dozens of lives and caused severe disruptions, including food and medicine shortages due to road blockades.

Next Steps
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is now focusing on resuming aid delivery and ensuring the safety of relief convoys. With security forces actively working to stabilize the area, officials remain hopeful that peace efforts will prevail despite the setbacks.
