Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, emphasized that sustainable peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan is achievable only when the Afghan Taliban abandons terrorism and ceases support for extremist organizations.
During his visit to Wana in South Waziristan, the Field Marshal paid tribute to martyrs by laying flowers at the local memorial, honoring the sacrifices made in defense of the motherland. The visit also included briefings on the security situation along the western border and ongoing operations under Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, Field Marshal Munir reviewed operational preparedness, met soldiers on the frontlines, and commended their professionalism, high morale, and readiness during the ongoing clashes.
He stressed that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs form the foundation of national security and stability and warned that it is unacceptable for hostile elements and foreign-backed groups to use Afghan soil to target Pakistan. Necessary measures, he said, will be taken to neutralize all threats.
The Field Marshal concluded by expressing full confidence in the capabilities and coordination of formations deployed along the Pak-Afghan border, highlighting their critical role in maintaining peace and security.
