A judicial magistrate has approved the exhumation of a body believed to be that of Amir, a young man abducted from DHA on January 6, whose family later received a ransom demand. The exhumation order was issued today by Judicial Magistrate Syeda Urooj Fatimah Naqvi, who directed a medical board to complete the process within seven days.
The case took a grim turn when police arrested suspect Armaghan after a shoot-out. During interrogation, Armaghan alleged that Amir was murdered by his own friends. Subsequently, on January 12, an unidentified, burnt body was discovered in a torched car in Hub and buried by the Edhi Foundation in Karachi on January 16.
Amir’s mother filed an application requesting the exhumation to confirm the body’s identity. The investigation officer, Muhammad Ali, also sought court approval, which was granted today.
Meanwhile, the police investigation has come under scrutiny, leading to the suspension and demotion of three officers for mishandling key aspects of the case. The investigation is ongoing, with suspect Shavez Bukhari currently in custody for interrogation.
