Court Orders Release of YouTuber Ducky Bhai in Gambling Promotion Case

A Lahore district court has ordered the release of YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman alias Ducky Bhai in the high-profile case related to promoting an online gambling application.

Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo issued a detailed three-page order, directing that the YouTuber be released on bail.

The court order cited the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) position that Ducky Bhai had promoted a gambling app on a large scale, exploiting his influence over millions of young followers. The magistrate observed that “any mistake by a social media influencer leads to widespread social disruption.”

According to the FIA, the accused received $326,420 as promotion fees for the gambling application. The court noted that Ducky Bhai had not denied promoting the app, while his lawyer was unable to explain the source of the payments or dispute that the money was received from a gambling company.

However, the defense argued that the case was “false and baseless,” claiming the petitioner had not been issued any formal notice during the inquiry and that no evidence had been provided showing harm caused to any individual.

While releasing the YouTuber, the court emphasized the importance of holding influencers accountable due to their social impact, particularly on youth.

The case has sparked debate over the responsibilities of digital content creators and the regulation of online promotions in Pakistan.
