DG ISPR: India Behind Balochistan Terrorism, Details Jaffar Express Attack

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Friday accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan, providing details of the Jaffar Express train attack that resulted in 25 deaths, including security personnel and civilians.

The Quetta-Peshawar train, carrying 440 passengers, was ambushed on Tuesday afternoon by Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists in a remote area. Security forces neutralized all 33 terrorists in a two-day operation, ensuring no hostages were harmed in the final rescue phase.

Attack Strategy & Execution

The terrorists first attacked a Frontier Corps (FC) post, martyring three soldiers, before moving to intercept the train.

  • They disabled the train with an IED, forcing it to stop.
  • Hostages were taken and segregated based on ethnic identity.
  • The terrorists used strategic positions on high ground to resist security forces.
  • Indian and Afghan weapons were recovered, indicating foreign involvement.

“The attack was designed for maximum disruption. The terrorists tried to manipulate the situation by selectively releasing hostages to create a false humanitarian narrative,” Lt Gen Chaudhry said.

India’s Involvement & Propaganda

DG ISPR showed video evidence of Indian officials discussing destabilization in Balochistan and accused Indian media of spreading fake AI-generated images and videos to manipulate the narrative.

“This is part of India’s informational warfare, aiming to justify terrorist activities and delegitimize Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts,” he stated.

Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Operations

  • In 2024, 59,775 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were conducted.
  • In 2025, 11,654 IBOs have already been executed, averaging 180 operations per day.
  • 1,250 terrorists neutralized, 563 security personnel martyred over the past two years.

CM Bugti: RAW Using Afghan Soil Against Pakistan

Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti blamed India’s intelligence agency RAW and hostile Afghan elements for orchestrating terrorism. He criticized past appeasement policies that allowed terrorists to regroup.

Calling the BLA’s violence a farce, Bugti asserted:

"We have the capability to handle this mess soon. Pakistan will not tolerate such terrorist tactics any longer."

National Security Meeting & Global Reactions

A high-level security conference in Quetta, attended by PM Shehbaz Sharif, COAS Gen Asim Munir, and key military and political figures, reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to countering terrorism.

Countries including China, the US, Iran, and Germany condemned the attack. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif criticized political factions for misinterpreting the crisis.

Balochistan’s Rising Terrorism Threat

  • November 2024: Suicide bombing at Quetta Railway Station killed 26 people.
  • August 2024: BLA attacks left 50 dead, including 14 security personnel.
  • January 2025: Seven passengers executed in Barkhan.

Pakistan has designated the BLA as a terrorist organization since 2006.

With the state increasing intelligence-led counterterrorism operations, Pakistan remains steadfast in eliminating external and internal threats to national security.
