Drugs Rehab Centre Staff Booked for Torturing Patient to Death in Taxila

The Wah Saddar police have registered a murder case against the staff of a private drugs rehabilitation centre for allegedly torturing a patient to death. The incident, which took place on Thursday, has sparked outrage and calls for justice.

According to police sources, Tanveer Ahmed reported that he had admitted his drug addict son-in-law, Mohammad Yousaf, to a private rehabilitation centre in the Wah Model town area on June 14 for treatment and rehabilitation. On Thursday, the centre’s staff brought Yousaf’s body, bearing torture and cut marks, to Wah General Hospital and subsequently fled the scene.

Yousaf’s body was then transferred to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Taxila, where an autopsy revealed that he had been severely beaten with sticks and rods. The brutal nature of the injuries has led to the registration of a murder case against the doctors and staff of the rehabilitation centre under sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, seeking to bring those responsible to justice. This tragic case highlights the urgent need for regulation and oversight of rehabilitation centres to prevent such abuses in the future.

Road Accident Report

In a separate incident, one person was killed and three others were injured in a motorcycle-car collision on Kohat-Fatehjang Road near Gullyal within the limits of Fatehjang police station on Thursday.

Police sources reported that 46-year-old Sher Khan, a resident of Kot Fateh, was riding his motorcycle when he tried to avoid a car coming from the opposite direction. He skidded off the road and collided with a roadside tree, dying on the spot. Two occupants of the car, identified as 35-year-old Musadiq Mukhtair and 40-year-old Abdul Ghafour, sustained critical injuries. The injured and deceased were transported to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Fatehjang for treatment.

These incidents underscore the need for enhanced safety measures on roads and stricter oversight of rehabilitation centres to protect lives and ensure accountability.
