Punjab Health Minister Announces Major Revamp of Dispensaries Across the Province

Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir unveiled plans for a significant revamp of dispensaries throughout the province, aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services and reducing dependence on unqualified medical practitioners.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the Punjab Healthcare Commission, which was chaired by Nazir and Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. The meeting, held in Lahore, featured a performance briefing by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Saqib Aziz.

Nazir emphasized that the ongoing revamp of dispensaries is a crucial step towards ensuring that healthcare services are delivered by qualified professionals. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to integrate private laboratories into a regulatory framework, thereby ensuring consistent and high standards across the board.

In his remarks, Rafiq underscored the Punjab Healthcare Commission's commitment to providing high-quality and safe healthcare facilities. He also noted that the board of the Commission would soon be reconstituted in alignment with directives from the Chief Minister.

The health ministers issued directives for the regular monitoring of government hospital licensing and taking stringent actions against quackery. They also reaffirmed their commitment to the rapid construction of additional regional offices and the central headquarters for the Punjab Healthcare Commission.

This move is expected to significantly improve healthcare standards in Punjab, addressing longstanding issues of quality and regulation in the healthcare sector.
