ECP Reviews Legal Action Against PTI’s Asad Qaiser Over Rigging Allegations

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of statements made by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser, who accused the commission of rigging during recent by-elections.

According to sources, the ECP has requested the transcript of Qaiser’s statement from the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA). The commission will review the transcript and decide on potential legal action against him.

Asad Qaiser had publicly alleged that Election Commission staff uploaded incorrect results on the official website, stating, “Today the real face of the Election Commission has been exposed once again. If this is the standard for holding elections, it would have been better to issue a notification directly instead of holding elections.”

It is worth noting that PTI already has a case pending before the ECP related to allegations of disrespecting the commission and its chief. The ECP’s move underscores its intent to address public statements questioning the integrity of the electoral process.
