KP CM Sohail Afridi Vows Zero Tolerance for Terrorism, Demands Federal Dues

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reiterated his government’s firm resolve to eradicate terrorism and strengthen provincial law enforcement, calling for unity and urgent support from the federal government.

Speaking to journalists, Afridi emphasized that anyone who targets Pakistan’s soldiers is a terrorist, asserting that peace and law and order remain the provincial government's top priorities. He confirmed that the KP Police is “fully capable and professionally trained” to counter threats, adding that he has approved the purchase of modern equipment to bolster police operations.

Demands for Federal Dues

Afridi said the province could bring major reforms in policing, health, and other sectors if the federal government clears outstanding dues owed to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He announced plans to establish a forensic science laboratory in the province to improve investigation capabilities.

PTI Mandate and Governance

Responding to a question about political performance, the chief minister said the people of KP gave PTI a third mandate because they believed the party was delivering. He praised the current Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police, expressing his desire for the IG to continue.

Open to Federal Audit—With Conditions

Addressing corruption allegations, Afridi invited the federal government to audit KP’s finances, saying even his own relatives should face accountability if found involved in wrongdoing. But he stressed that Islamabad must first pay the province its rightful funds.

Firm Stance on Terrorism and Legislation

Afridi said terrorism has hurt every sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vowing to support the federal government “for the sake of peace.” He directed provincial officials to draft new legislation to seal loopholes in anti-terror laws, ensuring tougher punishments for terrorists.

Call for Political Unity

When asked about political tensions and recent comments regarding water supply, Afridi dismissed the statement by Junaid Akbar as wrong and harmful. He urged all political actors to set aside differences and avoid steps that inconvenience the public.

“There is no option but to eliminate terrorism,” he said. “God forbid Punjab ever faces what KP has endured.”
