ECP Summons Talal Chaudhry Over Alleged By-Election Code Violations

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a formal notice to Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry over alleged violations of the electoral code of conduct during the NA-96 by-elections, summoning him to appear before the commission on December 18.

The notice cites complaints regarding government officials’ interference in the electoral process and emphasizes the need for accountability. Alongside Talal Chaudhry, Bilal Chaudhry has also been summoned to present his position and relevant records related to the case.

ECP Stresses Transparency

According to sources, the ECP has made it clear that any violation of election laws or government interference in by-elections will not be tolerated. The commission reaffirmed that maintaining a transparent and impartial electoral process is its top priority.

The hearing will be conducted under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commissioner, and the commission is expected to review all evidence and testimonies before making a decision.

This development comes amid heightened scrutiny over electoral integrity, with the ECP signaling its commitment to enforcing rules and holding public officials accountable for any breaches of the code of conduct.
