Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit to participate in the International Forum for Peace and Confidence Building Measures, scheduled for December 11 and 12.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with Turkmenistan President Sardar Berdimuhamedow and engage with leaders from other countries attending the forum. Discussions will focus on mutual cooperation, regional stability, economic partnerships, and the progress of energy projects, including the critical TAPI gas pipeline initiative.
Delegation and Forum Participation
PM Shehbaz Sharif will be accompanied by senior officials including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Atta Tarar. The forum will also feature the participation of heads of state from Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and other countries, highlighting the significance of multilateral dialogue for regional peace.
The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties in Central Asia, advancing regional energy cooperation, and contributing to initiatives aimed at enhancing peace and security in the region.
Focus on Energy and Regional Stability
A key aspect of the visit will be progress on the TAPI (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India) gas pipeline, which is expected to enhance energy security and foster economic collaboration between the participating nations.
Through this engagement, Pakistan aims to promote regional connectivity, bolster economic partnerships, and strengthen trust and confidence among neighboring countries.
