The Election Commission has approved the applications of Muslim League-N leaders Anjum Aqeel, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and Khurram Nawaz, directing the transfer of the applications related to three constituencies to other tribunals.
Following allegations of rigging leveled against the successful PML-N candidates in the February 2024 general elections, the Islamabad High Court had suspended the notification of their success while the matter was pending in the Election Tribunal.
Expressing no confidence in the election tribunal, the League leaders filed a petition to refer the matter to other tribunals. The Election Commission's decision comes after it reserved its verdict on the requests of the PML-N leaders a few days ago.
The transfer of the applications to other tribunals marks a significant development in the ongoing dispute over the election results in the three constituencies.
