Fact-Check: Viral Video Misattributed to KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur

A video clip circulating on social media platforms X and Facebook since April 4, 2025, falsely claims Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur disparaged PTI founder Imran Khan during a media interaction. The video was shared widely, sparking significant online debate about internal PTI conflicts. However, a thorough fact-check has confirmed that the quote attributed to Gandapur in the video was entirely fabricated.

The viral post, which gained traction after being shared by a pro-PML-N user, falsely attributed the following statement to the KP CM: “Imran Khan has no worth; whatever needs to be done, I will do it. Talking about Imran Khan is pointless.” The post claimed that Gandapur refused to allow journalists to ask questions about Imran Khan and instead kept the focus on himself. The post amassed 92,800 views on X, with additional shares on Facebook reaching 10,000 and 2,500 views, respectively.

Upon investigation, a reverse image search revealed that the clip was originally posted by Azaad Digital, dated April 4, 2025. In the video, CM Gandapur addresses a question from reporter Owais Ali about his earlier remarks on PTI leaders being “conspirators.” However, rather than disparaging Imran Khan, Gandapur responded that the issue at hand was not significant enough to discuss at that moment. He stated: “This issue is not that important that I discuss it. An important talk is being held and I want to remain limited to that. This, in my view, is an unimportant thing … I don’t think this is the time for us to talk on this topic, this is not an important topic.”

The claim that Gandapur called Imran Khan “worthless” was found to be entirely fabricated. A search of media reports and additional video clips from the same interaction yielded no evidence of Gandapur making the alleged remarks.

This false attribution of a statement not made by CM Gandapur highlights the ongoing internal tensions within PTI, with members increasingly criticizing Gandapur for his handling of the party's leadership issues, particularly regarding the release of Imran Khan and KP government policies. However, it is clear that the viral claim about Gandapur’s comments regarding Imran Khan is a misrepresentation.
