PPP Launches KP Bachao Tehreek, Demands CM Gandapur’s Resignation

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has taken a bold stance against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and announcing the launch of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bachao Tehreek (Save KP Movement).

While addressing a news conference in the opposition chamber of the KP Assembly, PPP’s parliamentary leader and opposition leader Ahmed Karim Kundi voiced strong concerns over the controversial Mines and Minerals Bill. Kundi claimed that the bill could have severe financial implications for the province, saying, “If passed, it could cost KP up to twenty-five billion rupees.”

He criticized the provincial government for allegedly ignoring the interests of the people and failing to represent KP’s case in Islamabad. “The case of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is pending in various forums in the capital, and the current leadership has failed to present it effectively,” he said.

Kundi praised fellow lawmakers in the KP Assembly for raising their voices against the bill, stating that amendments have already been prepared to counter it. He also noted that current revenue from mines and minerals stands at Rs10 billion, stressing that the proposed bill could disrupt this vital income stream.

“We completely oppose this bill,” he said. “We will take this issue to the public, reaching out to the people from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan.”

The PPP’s announcement marks a significant escalation in political tensions within the province and could trigger a broader movement challenging the PTI-led KP government’s legislative agenda.
