POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan leader and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr. Farooq Sattar has hinted at a possible sit-in protest after Eid to highlight Karachi’s growing problems.
Speaking to journalist Shahzeb Khanzada, Sattar expressed frustration over the deteriorating conditions in the city, stating that “the lava boiling in Karachi will erupt if the world sees it.”
He criticized the provincial government for failing to address key civic issues, particularly the increasing number of traffic accidents. While acknowledging that some problems may be administrative, he insisted that ultimate responsibility lies with the provincial authorities.
"If this does not happen, we are also considering holding a protest after Eid along with an all-party conference at the Governor House," Sattar stated.
His remarks come amid rising public dissatisfaction with Karachi’s governance, including issues related to traffic management, infrastructure, and law enforcement. The MQM leader’s call for an all-party conference suggests an attempt to build broader political consensus on the city's challenges.
Further details on the planned protest and conference are expected after Eid.
