POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday described Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as being divided, with one half pushing for revolutionary measures and the other advocating dialogue with the government.
Speaking in a statement, Chaudhry highlighted internal contradictions within the party, noting that different PTI leaders present varying narratives on the party’s policy. “Barrister Gohar Kachchh says one thing, junior ministers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa say another, and Salman Akram Raja blames terrorism on Afghanistan, which the KP Chief Minister does not support,” he said.
Chaudhry added that the National Dialogue Committee has requested a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, but no response has been received. He also appealed to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to help lower political tensions.
The former minister emphasized that resolving political instability will require negotiation among Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Asif Zardari. He suggested that the release of PTI prisoners from Kot Lakhpat Jail could create a positive impression and help ease the political temperature in the country.
