FBR Launches Transformation Plan with New Rating and Reward System for Senior Officers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially commenced the implementation of its transformation plan, which includes a major overhaul of the way senior officers are evaluated and rewarded. As part of the plan, a new performance-based rating and reward system will be introduced for senior officers across the FBR.

New Rating System for FBR Officers

The transformation plan aims to improve performance and accountability within the FBR. Under the new system, officers will be categorized into five performance categories, from A to E. Those who demonstrate exceptional performance will be rewarded with new vehicles, salary increases, and additional allowances. This reward structure is designed to incentivize top performers within the department.

Customs and Inland Revenue officers have been directed to update their email addresses and mobile phone numbers to ensure smooth communication. The system will be launched on an experimental basis, and all field formations are required to be ready for its implementation.

Focus on Senior Officers' Evaluation

The focus of the transformation plan is on senior officers, and during the pilot launch of the rating system, no new assignments will be given to officers in grades 17 and above. This move is intended to allow officers to focus on improving their performance without the distraction of additional tasks.

A letter has been issued to all FBR members, chief collectors, directors-general, and chief commissioners, instructing them to submit certification for the pilot launch of the new rating system. The submission deadline is set for today.

Expected Outcomes

The implementation of the new system is expected to bring greater efficiency and transparency to the FBR's operations. By aligning rewards with performance, the plan aims to motivate officers to perform at their highest potential while holding them accountable for their work.

The FBR hopes that this system will help improve the overall effectiveness of the revenue collection system and ensure better compliance with tax regulations across the country.
