The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has successfully arrested six fugitives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), who were wanted in Pakistan for serious crimes including terrorism, murder, attempted murder, robbery, and fraud.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrests were made through coordinated efforts led by the agency’s National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol. The detained individuals—identified as Sufyan Ali, Akasha Iqbal, Zohaib Shehzad, Abdul Latif, Muhammad Jaleel, and Muhammad Ramiz Ashraf—were all wanted by Punjab police for various criminal offenses.
Details of the Fugitives and Their Crimes
- Sufyan Ali: Wanted in a terrorism and attempted murder case registered at Wazirabad City police station, Sialkot (2022).
- Zohaib Shehzad: Involved in a robbery case at Satrah police station.
- Abdul Latif: Wanted in a murder case by the Airport police station, Rahim Yar Khan.
- Muhammad Jaleel: A fugitive for nine years, wanted by Dera Ghazi Khan police in a robbery case.
- Muhammad Ramiz Ashraf: Accused of attempted murder, wanted by Sadiqabad police station, Rawalpindi.
- Akasha Iqbal: Facing fraud charges registered in 2023 at Civil Lines police station, Sialkot.
The FIA confirmed that red notices were issued through Interpol to facilitate the arrests, ensuring a smooth legal process.
Coordination with International Law Enforcement
The fugitives are currently being transferred from the UAE to Lahore Airport, where they will be handed over to Punjab police for further legal proceedings.
FIA officials highlighted the close cooperation between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi, which played a crucial role in tracking and apprehending these criminals. They emphasized that the NCB Interpol operates round the clock, using advanced technology to monitor and arrest fugitives worldwide.
FIA’s Commitment to Justice
The FIA reaffirmed its commitment to bringing fugitives to justice and utilizing all available resources to apprehend criminals attempting to evade the law.
Notably, in April 2023, Punjab police arrested 10 proclaimed offenders from Gulf states and other countries, showcasing Pakistan’s intensified efforts to crack down on international fugitives.
