Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza is on an official visit to the Maldives, where he met with Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Moeizu to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional and global security, and defense cooperation.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in ensuring regional peace and stability. Discussions also focused on strengthening defense partnerships and expanding cooperation between the armed forces of the two nations.
During his visit, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza also held separate meetings with Maldivian Defense Minister Ghassan Mamoon and the Chief of Defense Forces. The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening military relations with the Maldives and exploring new avenues for defense collaboration, training, and capacity building.
The Maldivian civil and military leadership commended the professionalism and operational excellence of Pakistan’s armed forces. They also paid tribute to Pakistan’s sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism, acknowledging its significant contributions to regional peace and security.
Upon his arrival at the Maldives National Defense Force Headquarters, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza received a ceremonial salute, symbolizing the close and respectful ties between the two nations’ defense establishments.
The visit marks another milestone in the enduring Pak-Maldives friendship, reinforcing shared goals of peace, stability, and mutual respect in the Indian Ocean region.
