POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

RAWALPINDI: Following a meeting with former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry addressed the media, stating that Khan has strongly emphasized national unity in the face of Indian aggression, while criticizing the current government for making unilateral decisions without consultation.
“Imran Khan has clearly stated we are united against India,” said Chaudhry. “Modi’s recent actions have brought the Pakistani nation together. However, the government, operating on Form 47, did not take anyone into confidence when making critical decisions.”
Chaudhry added that Imran Khan is once again echoing his 2019 stance on India, accusing New Delhi of orchestrating false flag operations and blaming Pakistan without evidence. “He has asked the entire nation to stand with Pakistan in this crucial time.”
The lawyer also expressed frustration over the authorities’ refusal to allow Imran Khan’s sisters or other family members to meet him, raising questions about the motives behind such restrictions. “Preventing family and lawyers from meeting him sends a troubling message,” he said.
He further clarified that there are no ongoing backdoor negotiations involving the PTI founder. “Usman Riaz Gul and Zahar Abbas are Imran Khan’s legal representatives, and there are no secret talks with any quarters.”
Among those who managed to meet Imran Khan in jail were Faisal Chaudhry, Usman Riaz Gul, Mahmood Joya, and Haroon Nawaz. His sisters, however, were reportedly denied visitation rights.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, as well as political turmoil at home. Khan’s message seeks to rally national unity against perceived external threats, while spotlighting concerns over civil liberties and transparency under the current regime.
