Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi clarified the scope and nature of the ongoing Middle East conflict, stating that the war is not between Iran and anyone else, but primarily between the United States and Israel.
Speaking to the media, Araqchi emphasized that the current hostilities do not involve the American people against their government. He added that the martyrdom of top Iranian officials, including Ali Larijani, will not weaken Iran’s political system, describing the nation as having a strong and resilient political structure.
The minister outlined that Iran’s retaliatory attacks are being carried out against American military bases and installations in the region, while residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and banks were affected by US and Israeli strikes. He stressed that Iran has not targeted urban areas of neighboring countries, reaffirming the focus on military objectives.
Araqchi underlined that protecting Iranian citizens remains the top priority. He also noted that any future negotiations with the US will be conditional on lasting peace and compensation for damages incurred during the conflict.
Regarding nuclear policy, the Iranian Foreign Minister said there is no change in Iran’s stance: the country will continue to pursue peaceful nuclear energy, and international partners such as China can play a role in mediating for peace in the region.
