POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned what he termed “unwarranted attacks” against Iran during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders reviewed the rapidly evolving situation in Iran and the broader region amid escalating hostilities.
Dar expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over the developments and emphasized the need for an immediate halt to further escalation. He underscored the importance of the urgent resumption of diplomacy to achieve a peaceful and negotiated resolution to the crisis.
The diplomatic exchange follows a sharp escalation after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, triggering renewed military confrontation across the region.
In the aftermath of the strikes, Iran pledged retaliation. Reports indicate that several Gulf Arab states were subsequently targeted by Iranian missiles, raising fears of a broader regional conflict.
Pakistan has consistently called for restraint and dialogue in regional disputes, warning that continued escalation could have serious consequences for peace and stability across the Middle East and beyond.
