Islamabad High Court Orders Immediate Reopening of PTI Central Secretariat

The Islamabad High Court has directed the immediate reopening of the PTI Central Secretariat, which was sealed last week following a raid by police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The court's decision came as part of a reserved order that deemed the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) action to seal the office as “invalid.”

The court has instructed the PTI to undertake necessary fire safety measures in the building within a week. These arrangements include installing fire extinguishing equipment on each floor, setting up a fire pump on the roof, and placing a separate water tank. Additionally, the PTI is required to implement a manual alarm system, install gas detectors in the kitchen, and display emergency contact numbers prominently. The building's electrical wiring must also be inspected to ensure safety.

Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz remarked during the hearing that “a political party’s office cannot be sealed in this manner,” emphasizing the court's stance on the issue.

The PTI has agreed to comply with the CDA's administrative requirements, which are aimed at enhancing the building’s safety standards. This includes comprehensive fire safety measures and emergency preparedness to meet the court’s directives.

The ruling reflects the court's commitment to upholding legal procedures and ensuring that political activities can continue without undue interruption, provided that safety protocols are adequately followed.
