Jamhuri Watan Party (JWP) leader Nawabzada Gawram Bugti was taken into custody from Bugti House, Dera Bugti, police officials confirmed on Friday.

According to SSP Dera Bugti, Gawram Bugti will be sent to jail for 30 days under preventive measures. His arrest comes just hours before he was set to lead a long march against the Balochistan government.

Planned Long March Against Government

Gawram Bugti had announced a protest march against the provincial government, citing grievances over governance, security, and resource distribution in Balochistan. However, authorities moved swiftly to detain him before the demonstration could begin.

Political Reactions & Unrest in Balochistan

The arrest has sparked concerns among political activists in the region, with supporters of JWP condemning the move as an attempt to suppress dissent.

Balochistan has long been a hotbed of political tensions, with various nationalist leaders voicing concerns over government policies, resource control, and law enforcement actions in the province.

Authorities have yet to officially disclose charges against Bugti, and it remains unclear whether the arrest is linked directly to the long march announcement or other political activities.

What’s Next?

As tensions rise, JWP leaders and supporters are expected to protest the arrest in the coming days, demanding Bugti’s immediate release. Meanwhile, the Balochistan government has yet to issue an official statement regarding the development.
