Karachi Court Sends 34 Accused to Jail Over Illegal Call Center and Fraud Operations

A Judicial Magistrate in East Karachi has sent 34 individuals, including 15 foreigners, to jail on judicial remand following their arrest in connection with illegal call center operations and fraud. The accused were presented in court by the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The investigating officer informed the court that the suspects were apprehended during raids conducted in the Defense area two days ago. The accused allegedly ran illegal call centers, luring people into making investments and collecting substantial sums from them. Cases under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and fraud have been registered against them.

Due to the involvement of 15 foreign nationals, the investigating officer highlighted potential security concerns. The court granted judicial remand until January 2 and directed the investigating officer to present the challan at the next hearing.

The action underscores ongoing efforts by Pakistani authorities to crack down on cybercrime and illegal financial operations targeting citizens.
