POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has highlighted that his government is prioritizing the improvement of service delivery over the construction of new buildings. He made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Young Parliamentarians Forum, where they discussed the political situation in the country and various issues of national interest.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of addressing the country’s administrative challenges, particularly the need for smaller provinces to better serve the people. He expressed concerns over the current system, where large provinces remain unaddressed due to the desire for maintaining large administrative units. Gandapur argued that smaller empires would allow for more efficient problem-solving and improved governance.
In terms of governance and regional development, Gandapur revealed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has set up regional secretariats using its available resources and manpower. He reiterated the government’s focus on service delivery and effective management rather than solely investing in infrastructure projects. Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing work on 800 MW hydroelectric projects in the province, highlighting efforts to boost energy production and address regional power shortages.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister raised concerns over the low allocation of federal funds for the war on terror and the restoration of infrastructure in the merged districts. He noted that despite the challenges faced by these areas, the financial support from the federal government has been insufficient to meet the province's needs.
The meeting between CM Gandapur and the Young Parliamentarians Forum concluded with a commitment to work together towards peace, development, and the creation of a more harmonious political environment.
