POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Saturday announced that a nationwide strike will be held on February 8, emphasizing the people’s commitment to democracy.
Addressing a public rally, Afridi said, “The people of Abbottabad have always come out for democracy. The public is waiting for the next call.”
His visit was met with protests by the Doctors Association, including female doctors who blocked his path, demanding justice in the Dr. Warda murder case. Afridi assured that complete justice would be delivered in the case. Police later intervened to reopen the road.
Referring to criticism of PTI’s protest politics, Afridi remarked, “Some say PTI does politics of protest. If justice had been delivered, PTI would never have resorted to protest politics.”
The announcement of the nationwide strike marks a significant step in PTI’s political campaign, with party leadership calling for public mobilization across the country.
