The Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition seeking permission for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22, directing the party to challenge the decision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore.
Earlier, the DC Lahore rejected PTI’s request, stating that the party could not be allowed to hold a public gathering at the venue. Following this, PTI leader Akmal Khan Bari filed a petition in the LHC on March 10, making the Chief Secretary Punjab, DC Lahore, and others respondents in the case.
During the hearing, the LHC upheld the DC’s decision and advised PTI to pursue legal remedies by formally contesting the rejection.
This ruling comes amid ongoing tensions between PTI and the administration regarding political gatherings, with authorities citing security concerns as a key reason for restrictions on large public rallies.
