Lahore High Court Directs Strict Safety Measures for Basant Festival

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has emphasized the importance of public safety during the upcoming Basant festival, directing all relevant authorities to implement stringent security measures.

Justice Malik Awais Khalid, issuing a written interim order from the previous hearing, underscored that the protection of lives and property must remain the top priority during the festival. The court adjourned further proceedings in the matter until February 11.

According to the interim order, special medical camps are to be established in the red zones and parks hosting Basant activities to ensure immediate medical assistance in emergencies. Authorities have been instructed to keep all emergency services fully operational and coordinate closely to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) submitted a report confirming that three hospitals have been mobilized to provide rapid response capabilities.

The court made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated during Basant festivities, highlighting the critical need for proactive safety and security measures.

Officials and the public have been urged to cooperate fully to ensure a safe and incident-free celebration of the traditional festival.
