Another tragic road accident claimed two lives on Monday when a speeding water tanker struck a motorcycle at Landhi Hospital Chowrangi, killing a mother and her son on the spot.

According to Geo News, the victims were riding a motorcycle when the heavy vehicle rammed into them. Initial reports suggest that the impact was so severe that both victims succumbed to their injuries immediately.

There has been no confirmation yet regarding the arrest or detention of the tanker driver by the police or other authorities.

Rescue officials revealed that with this incident, the death toll from heavy vehicle collisions in Karachi has now climbed to 195 fatalities in 2025 alone, underscoring the city’s worsening traffic safety crisis.

Road accidents involving tankers and trucks have repeatedly sparked outrage among citizens, who blame reckless driving, poor regulation, and weak enforcement of traffic laws. Civil society groups have long demanded stricter monitoring of heavy vehicles, especially in densely populated urban areas.
