Nine SIU Officials Suspended in Karachi Over Extortion Charges

Nine officials from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) have been suspended after being found guilty of extorting a citizen. The officials, including a sub-inspector and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), were involved in the illegal activity in Scheme 33.

Aamir Shahzad

According to reports, the SIU officials, led by Inspector Akhtar Ali and ASI Shehbaz Khan, arrested a citizen and subsequently extorted a significant amount of money in US dollars from him. Following the incident, the officials left the city.

 

SSP SIU Adeel Chandio has taken decisive action, suspending the implicated personnel and launching an investigation into the extortion case. Chandio has stated that the ongoing investigation aims to uncover how and from where the officials acquired the extorted funds.

 

This action reflects a serious commitment to addressing corruption within the police force and ensuring accountability for such misconduct.
