Waqar Bangwar, a young driver, tragically lost his life when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle near Zorgarh on the Kandhkot Indus Highway. The incident occurred when the vehicle, a Datsun, did not stop when instructed by police. Upon refusal, the assailants opened fire, fatally wounding Waqar Bangwar, who later succumbed to his injuries.
The body of the young driver was quickly transported to a local hospital, where post-mortem procedures were completed, and the body was handed over to the family for burial.
Family Protests for Justice:
In the aftermath of the incident, the heirs of Waqar Bangwar, including Daulat Bangwar and Somar Bangwar, along with showroom union leaders Ashfaq Marri and Shahnawaz Marhito, held a protest at Gola Mor on the Indus Highway. They laid the body of the deceased at the protest site and voiced their strong condemnation of the police’s actions.
They claimed the incident was due to police negligence and expressed growing concerns about public safety. The protesters highlighted that such incidents, where gunmen open fire in public, have made the citizens feel unsafe, with little protection from law enforcement.
Demands for Immediate Action:
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the accused gunmen, urging that those responsible be held accountable for the death of Waqar Bangwar. They criticized the failure of the police in taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of the public.
Police Response:
In response to the growing unrest, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the Station House Officer (SHO) arrived at the protest site. They engaged with the protesters, assuring them that the accused would be arrested within 10 days. The police officials also assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to bring justice to the deceased’s family.
The protest ended after the assurance, with the authorities promising swift action against the responsible parties.
