Omar Ayub, PTI Criticize President Zardari’s Speech, Protest in Parliament

The opposition, led by PTI leader Omar Ayub and Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar, strongly criticized President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to Parliament, dismissing it as unremarkable and politically motivated.

Speaking outside the Parliament House, Omar Ayub questioned the significance of Zardari’s speech and the achievements of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government.

Opposition Calls Out Government Failures

Omar Ayub accused the government of mismanagement, highlighting Karachi’s water crisis, rising inflation, and Pakistan’s growing debt burden, which he claimed had exceeded Rs. 4,000 billion. He also warned of an impending wheat shortage and rampant petroleum smuggling in Balochistan.

"The people are suffering under this government. There is no rule of law, which is why foreign investment is not coming in, and another 20 million people have fallen below the poverty line," he stated.

Barrister Gohar: ‘Zardari Did Not Represent the Federation’

Barrister Gohar echoed Ayub’s sentiments, arguing that President Zardari failed to present himself as a unifying symbol of the federation. "That is why we welcomed him with a protest," he added.

Opposition’s Noisy Protest During Speech

Earlier, as President Zardari took the stage for his address, PTI members staged a loud protest. The opposition banged desks, chanted slogans in favor of their founder, Imran Khan, and created disruptions throughout the session.

In response, both President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wore headphones to block out the noise. Zardari maintained his composure, even smiling at the opposition’s disruptions.

Despite the chaos, the government remains firm on its economic and political agenda, while the opposition continues to challenge its legitimacy. As political tensions rise, Pakistan’s leadership faces a tough road ahead in addressing public concerns and maintaining parliamentary decorum.
