Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has announced significant progress in Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq, reporting heavy losses inflicted on the Afghan Taliban in retaliation to unprovoked attacks on the Pak-Afghan border.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X on Wednesday, Tarar disclosed that the Afghan Taliban have suffered 481 fatalities and over 696 injuries during the ongoing operation. He stated that the counter-offensive is aimed at delivering a decisive response to terrorism and aggression from Afghan territory.
The minister provided detailed figures highlighting the effectiveness of the operation: 226 Taliban check posts have been destroyed, 35 Afghan posts captured by Pakistani security forces, and 198 tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery guns have been neutralized. In addition, airstrikes have effectively targeted 56 strategic locations across Afghanistan, including key areas in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.
Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq was launched following an unprovoked attack by the Afghan Taliban on the night of February 26 along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Pakistan’s armed forces responded with targeted counterstrikes against Taliban positions inside Afghanistan to neutralize the threat and protect national security.
The government has made it clear to Afghanistan that it must decisively choose between supporting the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) or maintaining peaceful relations with Pakistan.
Minister Tarar emphasized that the operation is ongoing and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its borders against terrorist threats while ensuring a robust and strategic response to cross-border aggression.
