Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Saudi counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, in Riyadh on Tuesday to reaffirm the longstanding security cooperation between the two nations. The meeting took place at the Saudi Ministry of Interior headquarters and underscored the strategic partnership rooted in mutual trust and shared interests.
Discussions centered on enhancing bilateral collaboration, particularly in combating drug smuggling and addressing shared security challenges. Both leaders expressed a strong resolve to further deepen their cooperation, reflecting the historic ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Prince Abdulaziz warmly welcomed Naqvi and his delegation, reiterating Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for Pakistan. “Saudi Arabia has always stood by Pakistan during challenging times,” Naqvi remarked, emphasizing the religious and fraternal bonds between the two nations. He also conveyed Pakistan’s best wishes for Saudi Arabia’s visionary leadership and its people.
Strengthening Anti-Narcotics Collaboration
The leaders agreed to intensify efforts in combating narcotics trafficking, a shared priority for both nations. This cooperation is expected to be bolstered by the activation of a joint task force, as agreed in a prior meeting between Naqvi and Saudi Minister of State for Interior Dr. Khalid Mohammed Abdullah Al Battal.
Additionally, Naqvi met with Major General Mohammad bin Saeed Al-Qarni, director general of Saudi Arabia’s anti-narcotics division, on Monday, furthering discussions on collaborative measures to curb drug smuggling.
A Historic Partnership
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have long enjoyed a multifaceted relationship encompassing economic assistance, energy supplies, and military collaboration. Saudi Arabia has consistently been a key ally, providing vital financial aid and oil supplies to Pakistan.
The high-level meeting also touched upon broader security concerns, highlighting a shared commitment to fostering regional stability and peace. Pakistani Ambassador Ahmed Farooq, Director General of Passports and Immigration Mustafa Jamal Qazi, and Interior Ministry Additional Secretary Riffat Mukhtar Raja were part of Naqvi’s delegation. On the Saudi side, prominent officials, including Deputy Interior Minister Nasser Al-Dawood and Public Security Director Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Bassami, participated in the talks.
Celebrating Saudi Arabia’s Visionary Leadership
During the meeting, Naqvi extended his congratulations to the Saudi leadership and citizens for securing the hosting rights for the 2034 FIFA World Cup. He expressed good wishes for the event, underscoring the global recognition of Saudi Arabia’s progress under its visionary leadership.
