Pakistan Urges India to End State Terrorism: Saima Saleem at UN

Pakistan’s UN Counselor Saima Saleem has strongly urged India to stop its state-sponsored terrorism and initiate meaningful dialogue to resolve the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Speaking during an open debate of the Security Council, Saleem directly responded to India’s statement, accusing New Delhi of misleading rhetoric, denial, and diversion. She declared that India's “round talk” cannot obscure the facts on the ground.

Saleem accused India of routinely killing and injuring civilians in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and launching unprovoked attacks on Pakistan. She also cited international incidents, including the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and a foiled plot against Gurpatwant Singh in the US, as evidence of India’s involvement in cross-border targeted killings.

“India is not just exporting terrorism to Pakistan, but also targeting dissidents around the world,” she told the Council.

Referring to the Pahalgam incident, she condemned India’s refusal to allow an independent investigation, suggesting that India had something to hide. She also criticized India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing New Delhi of attempting to weaponize water — a resource vital to over 240 million Pakistanis.

Saleem highlighted recent unprovoked aggression by India between May 6 and 10, which resulted in the death of 40 civilians, including 7 women and 15 children, and injured 121 others. She also blamed India for funding and operational support to banned terrorist groups like TTP, BLA, and the Majeed Brigade, pointing to the May 21 terrorist attack on a school bus in Balochistan as a tragic consequence.

“If India is genuinely committed to peace and regional stability, it must end its campaign of terror, cease atrocities against the Kashmiri people, respect international law and the UN Charter, and return to the negotiating table,” she emphasized.

Saima Saleem concluded by urging the international community to take notice of India’s violations and ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
