Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Saudi Arabia on Thursday for a brief emergency official visit, according to Foreign Office of Pakistan spokesperson Tahir Hassan Andrabi. The trip comes at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is accompanying the Prime Minister on this short but strategically significant mission.
During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to meet with the Saudi Crown Prince to discuss regional security, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, the Foreign Office spokesperson described the visit as “of great importance,” highlighting that it forms part of ongoing bilateral consultations. He stressed that Pakistan will continue efforts toward de-escalation, ceasefire negotiations, and diplomatic engagement in the region.
This emergency trip underscores Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy and its commitment to maintaining stability and peace in the Middle East while strengthening its relations with a key strategic partner.
