PM Shehbaz Sharif: 26th Constitutional Amendment to Deliver Quick Justice, SCO Conference a Success

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the significance of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, stating that it will provide the Pakistani people with quicker access to justice and improve the judicial system’s efficiency. Addressing the federal cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister hailed the amendment as a crucial step towards the development and prosperity of the country.

"The establishment of judicial benches through this amendment will offer much-needed convenience to the common man," said PM Shehbaz. He added that this legislative milestone represents the fulfillment of another aspect of the Charter of Democracy, initially envisioned in 2006. According to the Prime Minister, the constitutional amendment was the result of extensive consultation among political parties, both in government and opposition, and he expressed gratitude to Nawaz Sharif for his guidance throughout the process.

The 26th Constitutional Amendment has introduced changes to the judiciary, including reforms that aim to streamline the judicial process, ensuring faster case resolutions and enhancing the accessibility of justice for ordinary citizens.

SCO Conference and International Relations

Shifting focus, Prime Minister Shehbaz also highlighted the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conference in Islamabad. The event, attended by the Chinese and Russian Prime Ministers among other dignitaries, received widespread praise for the well-coordinated arrangements and the beauty of Islamabad, which was "beautifully decorated" for the occasion.

The Chinese Prime Minister’s visit, his first in 11 years, was termed a success by PM Shehbaz, who also noted the comprehensive declaration issued by the heads of SCO countries at the conclusion of the meeting. The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, Information Ministry, and other departments for their exemplary coordination in making the conference a success. He further acknowledged the Pakistan Army and other security institutions for their robust measures to ensure safety throughout the event.

Concerns over Gaza

During the cabinet meeting, PM Shehbaz also expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in Gaza and Lebanon, condemning the loss of innocent lives. He lamented that the International Court of Justice's rulings on the matter had been disregarded, stating, "Innocent women and children continue to be martyred, and the cruelty shows no sign of abating."

The Prime Minister called for the international community to take stronger actions to end the violence, emphasizing Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause.
