POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
PML-N leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui commented on PTI founder Imran Khan's letter to the Army Chief by quoting a famous verse from Mirza Ghalib:
"I will write a letter even if it means nothing, we are lovers of your name..."
Siddiqui stated that the poetic expression was inspired by the evolving political maneuvers of PTI and Shibli Faraz's recent picture.
"Desperation at Its Peak"
The senator remarked that writing such letters reflects a peak of disappointment. He criticized PTI for frequently shifting its stance, saying:
"Sometimes they seek negotiations, sometimes they request meetings, and now they write a 360-page letter."
Details of the Letter
According to Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, the letter comprised six key points, including:
- Allegations of fraudulent elections and the success of money launderers.
- Impact on the judiciary and rule of law due to the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
- The Al-Qadir Trust case decision.
- Alleged terrorist activities, raids, and firing against PTI workers.
- The role of intelligence agencies.
- A request to the Army Chief for a change in policies.
Security Sources and PTI's Response
Security sources have claimed they have not received the letter yet. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar stated:
"I have not seen or read the letter, but if there is a response from the authorities, we will welcome it."
The political landscape remains tense as PTI continues its efforts to address grievances and engage with the establishment.
