Politics Impossible Without Engagement With Establishment, Says PTI’s Barrister Saif

PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has said that politics in Pakistan cannot be practiced effectively without establishing communication and engagement with the country’s establishment. His remarks came during a conversation with Geo News, where he addressed internal criticism and clarified his political stance.

Barrister Saif said that while some PTI members may accuse him of maintaining such contacts, he has always been transparent. “I am the same inside as I am outside. I never hide my relations,” he stated, adding that party founder Imran Khan is also fully aware of his connections.

He clarified that his relations are not of the nature often associated with external actors. “Yes, I have relations with the establishment, but I am not talking about relations with Israel and India,” he stressed.

The PTI leader said that historically, the party itself maintained working relations with the establishment. If differences exist today, he said, they should not be interpreted as a complete breakdown in communication. “If today there has been a difference for some reason, it does not mean that we have broken up with them,” he noted.

Barrister Saif emphasized the practical necessity of institutional engagement in Pakistani politics. “Politics cannot be done in this country without establishing contacts with the establishment,” he said. He also stressed the need for continued cooperation between political parties and state institutions. “Of course, this is the establishment of our country. We should also continue our struggle.”

His comments come at a time when PTI’s relationship with the establishment has been under public scrutiny, adding a new layer to the ongoing political debate regarding institutional influence in national affairs.
