POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan has strongly criticized the Punjab government, warning that the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) should not become a victim of political maneuvering.
Speaking to the media at the People’s Secretariat Lahore, Chan stressed that the government’s policies are creating widespread frustration among the people. He accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of neglecting the farming community at a time when urgent relief is required.
“Every conscious person in society is under pressure due to government policies. PML-N should help farmers instead of breaking fingers. There is no cure for Benazir’s hatred. Ask those whose money goes to their homes after two months,” he remarked.
Highlighting the plight of farmers affected by recent floods, Chan urged the government to take immediate measures for their rehabilitation. He demanded that farmers be provided Rs100,000 per acre to help them cultivate new crops.
The PPP leader further emphasized that his party stands for the stability of democracy and parliament, while criticizing the government for fueling “mental stress” among the people through its policies.
Chan’s remarks come amid growing political tension between PPP and PML-N, despite both parties being coalition allies at the federal level.
