PTI Accuses Judiciary of Bias; Khalid Khurshid Criticizes Post-Muharram Legal Actions

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Rauf Hasan has leveled serious accusations against the judiciary, particularly Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, alleging bias and improper conduct in handling PTI's cases.

Allegations Against Judiciary

During a press conference in Islamabad, Rauf Hasan criticized the current state of Pakistan's courts, particularly during ongoing hearings regarding the NAB amendment bill. Hasan claimed that Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa and another judge did not recuse themselves from PTI's cases, despite potential conflicts of interest.

Hasan further accused Justice Qazi Faiz Isa of displaying bias against PTI, citing incidents during court proceedings where he allegedly made disparaging remarks and prevented PTI's review petition from being heard promptly.

Specific Grievances

"Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa went beyond his jurisdiction by writing a letter to the British High Commission and frequently criticized PTI during court sessions," Hasan stated, referencing incidents involving legal scrutiny of PTI's founder.

Khalid Khurshid's Criticism

In a separate statement during the press conference, PTI leader Khalid Khurshid criticized legal actions following Muharram, accusing authorities of selective enforcement. He highlighted incidents involving religious parties' protests in Islamabad, contrasting the leniency shown compared to actions taken against PTI members.

Calls for Fair Treatment

Khurshid emphasized that PTI supporters would not be deterred by legal challenges, asserting their determination to continue political activities despite alleged judicial and police obstacles.

Conclusion

The allegations by PTI representatives against the judiciary, combined with criticism of post-Muharram legal actions, reflect ongoing tensions between the ruling party and judicial authorities in Pakistan. As these issues continue to unfold, the impact on political stability and judicial integrity remains a significant concern.
