POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Tuesday emphasized the importance of local female role models during a ceremony at Home Economics University. He highlighted Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed, and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz as examples for female students to follow.
Addressing the students, Governor Khan stressed the importance of supporting one’s parents, saying, “Parents helped you; now it is your duty to be a support for your parents.”
He recalled the struggles of Benazir Bhutto for democracy, noting that despite numerous hardships, she never gave up the fight for democratic values. The Governor further praised Maryam Nawaz for her active role in politics, stating that her work demonstrates the potential of women in leadership positions.
Governor Khan emphasized that students should look up to these national figures rather than being influenced by foreign examples, saying, “These personalities are role models for us; we do not need to be influenced by Europe.”
The remarks aimed to inspire young women to pursue education and leadership while drawing motivation from Pakistan’s own political pioneers.
