Senior Chinese Communist Party Official Liu Jianchao to Visit Islamabad for CPEC Consultative Meeting

Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC) and member of the Communist Party’s Central Committee, is scheduled to visit Islamabad from 20-22 June 2024. His visit comes at the invitation of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

 

The primary agenda of Liu Jianchao's visit is to co-chair the Third Meeting of the Pakistan-China Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) alongside Mohammad Ishaq Dar. Established in 2019, the JCM serves as a regular platform for consultations between the Communist Party of China and political parties of Pakistan regarding CPEC projects. Previous meetings were held in Beijing in March 2019 and virtually in August 2020.

 

During the upcoming meeting, both sides will review the progress of CPEC projects, assess the corridor's impact on Pakistan's socio-economic development, and discuss plans for its enhancement and extension to promote regional connectivity.

 

Liu Jianchao is also scheduled to meet with senior civil and military leadership of Pakistan, reinforcing the deep-rooted "All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership" between the two countries. His visit underscores China's commitment to advancing high-quality development within the framework of CPEC and enhancing communication on significant regional and global developments.

 

This visit marks another milestone in the ongoing high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, highlighting mutual support on issues of core interests and collaborative efforts to strengthen bilateral ties across various domains.
